The Legacy of Sofanear

The story of Sofanear began in 1948, in the charming city of Bassano del Grappa, nestled in the Veneto region of northern Italy. This was where master craftsman Giovanni Moretti first opened his small workshop, dedicated to creating fine, handcrafted furniture. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and artistry, Giovanni quickly gained a reputation for producing sofas that blended comfort with timeless elegance, becoming a beloved figure in the local community.

In the 1970s, Giovanni’s son, Alessandro Moretti, joined his father in the family workshop. Together, they perfected the art of upholstery and woodworking, turning the workshop into a thriving family business. Alessandro embraced his father’s passion for quality and continued to innovate, combining traditional techniques with modern design. Under his guidance, the Moretti name became known not just in Bassano del Grappa but throughout Italy.

Fast forward to 2005, Giovanni’s grandson, Lorenzo Moretti, took the helm of the family legacy. Lorenzo, deeply influenced by the heritage passed down from his grandfather and father, felt a strong responsibility to honor the family’s craftsmanship while infusing his own contemporary vision. Lorenzo renamed the business Sofanear, blending tradition with modern Italian style. He expanded the reach of the brand, bringing Italian-made, handcrafted sofas to an international audience, while ensuring each piece retained the soul of its Italian roots.

Today, Sofanear stands as a tribute to the dedication, artistry, and passion that began over seventy years ago with Giovanni Moretti. In every sofa crafted by Sofanear, there is a piece of history, a touch of heritage, and a commitment to excellence, a philosophy that has endured across generations.
